Brief Description of Work:

Dark Horse Candidate is a time-based project that is intended to be a portrait of one specific location over the course of one full year (2009). One shot per day was selected in the editing process (365 shots in total), and each one appears in sequence according to the calendar year.

The basic idea that permeates throughout Dark Horse Candidate is the thought that one should not take what is in front of you for granted. Photographer Dorthea Lange stated that, “One should really use the camera as though tomorrow you'd be stricken blind.” The origin of Dark Horse Candidate lies  within this concept. My original idea for this project is centered upon the idea that I would place myself in a working environment where I was forced to see things in this light, and find an image each day (over the course of one year) that was significant to me personally.
